Oratorical Declamation
Event Description:
Entrants may be of freshmen or sophomore standing only. Selection (cut or fully intact) must be publicly delivered oration, often from historical orators or events. Presented without mimicking the original delivery, interpreting the selection with their own vocal nuances and style that complement and enhance the purpose and message. Allows for dramatic vocal interpretation, gestures, and movement. The introduction must additionally include the time and place at which the speech was originally delivered, and name the original speaker.
No costuming or props. Outside of grace period cannot be first. Optional podium and script after November.
