Interpretive Events

Event Description:

This is a combined division of interpretive events: Humorous, Duo, Dramatic, and Program interpretations. While each event is inherently different, know that many of the skills you are evaluating are the same. Students presenting a Program Interp will have multiple pieces, while everyone else will have a single piece. Duo Interp performers will be in teams of two, while everyone else is performing solo. In all events, the time limit is ten minutes with a 30-second “grace period.” Should a student go beyond the grace period, the student may not be ranked 1st. Judges are to use accurate (stopwatch function) timing devices. No minimum time is mandated.

Consider the following when ranking: the quality of the introduction and transitions, the ability to keep character, the creation of mood, voice/volume/rate, poise, and the strength of the performance as a whole.
