Event Description:

STORYTELLING

The topic for storytelling at the Mid-State Invitational will be "I Survived..."

The student may not tell a story used previously by him/her in any forensics tournament. Delivery should appear extemporaneous, rather than memorized word-for-word. No book or script may be used in the presentation. The contestant must not add original material or must not materially change the content of the story. The contestant will be provided a chair for use. Movement is allowed for the purposes of establishing character and environment.

The maximum time is five minutes with a thirty-second grace period, but the story may be briefer without penalty. Any introduction must be included within the time limit. Students that exceed the time limit should not be given first place in the panel; further consequences of exceeding the time limit are left to the discretion of the judge.
