Events Offered

The Bulldog Invitational will host the following events:

Lincoln-Douglas Debate

A Novice division will be offered in Lincoln-Douglas debate.  All NSDA rules and time limits will be followed.  Friday Novice Lincoln-Douglas will have four (4) rounds of debate.  Saturday Novice Lincoln-Douglas will have four (4) rounds of debate followed by outrounds, as needed. 

Lincoln-Douglas debate will use the November/December LD topic.

Policy Debate

Novice and Varsity division of Policy debate will be offered.  All NSDA rules and time limits will be followed.  Policy Debate will have four (4) rounds of debate foolwed by outrounds, as needed.  NOTE: If you have any Varsity students, they are welcome to come and judge the Novice division.  Since we are allowing Varsity students to judge, we are requiring Policy teams to cover their judging obligations.

NOVICE CASE LIMITS IN EFFECT.  

Public Forum Debate

Novice and Varsity divisions of Public Forum debate will be offered, all NSDA rules and time limits will be followed.  Novice and Varsity Public Forum debate will have five (5) rounds of debate followed by outrounds, as needed.  

Public Forum will use the November PF topic.

Individual Events

Seven (7) events will be offered this year: dramatic interpretation, duo interpretation, extemporaneous speaking, humorous interpretation, informative speaking, original oratory, and program oral interpretation.  All NSDA rules and time limits will be followed.  Students may single or double enter in any of the IE events; each entry will be charged as a separate entry.  There will be four (4) rounds before breaking to finals.  NOTE: Individual events are offered Saturday only.  Teams bringing students for both days of competition can enter their IE students in the Friday only Congress, if desired. 

Student Congress

 

All NSDA rules and time limits will apply to Student Congress.  Presiding Officers will not be eligible for speaking awards, although they will receive a gavel for presiding.  Each school may submit a maximum of four (4) pieces of legislation.  Bettendorf also strongly suggests that each school submits a minimum of one piece of legislation.  All legislation needs to be received by Thursday, November 2nd, 2017.  These bills/resolutions should be sent by e-mail to Impulse411@hotmail.com.  Legislative packets will then be e-mailed to each participating school by Monday, November 6th.  The docket will be set at that point and sent out to schools.  NOTE:  Congress will be offered Friday only.  Students participating in both days of competition are encouraged to enter in the Individual Events for Saturday.
