Costs

$5 for single-person events (PRO, POE, POI, DI, HI, EXT, COM, PER, INFO, LD, SENATE)

$10 for two-person events (DUO, PF, POL, PARLI)

$100 per hired judge. Central Catholic is able to provide a limited pool of hired judges. First come, first served. Reach out directly to Paul Beer (pjb82@pitt.edu)to secure judging.

Registration opens on January 29, 2024.

Registration, including a complete list of your judges, is due by February 21, 2024.

Senate legislation due by February 12th, 2024.

Speech: 1 judge for 4 entries

Debate: 1 judge for 2 entries

Congress: 1 judge for 2 entries

Action Items

Speech: Students competing in interpretation speech events should be able to produce full copies and/or publication information for any/all pieces used in the event of a rules violation or protest.

Students competing in Persuasive or Informative Speaking are required to submit an unedited copy of their speech, a bibliography, and a form signed by both student and coach stating that the speech is the original work of the student by the day of the tournament, and then again before the State Championship. An example will be provided.

Congress: Schools competing in the Senate are required to submit a bill for consideration in the legislative session, and then again for the State Championship. This bill is due by February 12th, to be compiled and distributed for preparation the next day. Schools competing in the House supplemental event at the State Championship are encouraged to submit a bill by February 1st, 2024.
