National Qualifier Public Forum Debate--Saturday, January 21, 2023

We have eleven teams from six schools competing for the two spots in Public Forum debate that Michigan gets to enter in the National tournament. The tournament will run like an invitational with 4 prelim rounds and single elimination break rounds. For more information about the structure of the tournament, read the email that was sent on 1/16/23 to coaches and judges.

Registration will begin at 9:00AM on Saturday, January 21. The General Meeting for contestants and judges will be at 9:20, and round 1 will begin at 9:45. Please ensure all of your contestants are present and that their technology is working. Here is the tentative schedule for the tournament. We will be using GoogleMeets for the tournament instead of campus rooms--but we WILL be using tabroom.com for schematics, ballots, and results.

In order to pay the extra unaffiliated judges that we end up hiring, I will be charging $25 per school if you do not have an unaffiliated judge listed in your entry. If you have listed an unaffiliated judge, you will still be able to enter for free. If you have no judges and need to hire, hired judges for the whole day will be $100.

Given the number of judges we will end up needing and the fact that judges don't judge for free, we will need to pay for hired judges. All fees will be charged through Dexter Speech Activities, and judges will be paid through my school's Business Office online payment platform, or they can send a check to DexterSpeech Activities, 2200 N. Parker Road, Dexter, MI 48130.
