Purpose of the Category *To provide a group of students the opportunity of working together to present a literary script.
Description of Category * The goal of this category is to provide a group of students the opportunity of working together to present a literary script by using their voices and/or bodies to suggest the intellectual, emotional or sensory experiences inherent in the material they have chosen. The readers should strive to have the audience lose themselves in the ideas that are being presented and make the printed page come alive for them. The preferred source material should be prose, poetry, essays, song lyrics, speeches, declamations, radio drama, or creative dramatics. Students may also adapt published works or develop their own material for the presentation. Emphasis in this category is on vocal and verbal excellence and group dynamics. Primary focus of the performers is on the audience, not each other.
