9 = Always necessary

Please describe your personal note-taking during the round

I write down the key arguments throughout the round
Additional remarks: I encourage debaters to prioritize clarity and clash. Rebuttals and direct engagement are what I value most, especially when arguments are extended, weighed, and strategically collapsed in later speeches. I discourage spreading beyond what can reasonably be followed—if I can’t flow it, I can’t evaluate it. Debaters should feel free to bring intensity and passion to the round, but it must remain respectful and sportsmanlike. Above all, I reward those who not only make strong arguments but who actively respond to and dismantle their opponent’s case with precision and purpose.

Note: if you wish for your pronouns to appear the debaters you judge on text/email blasts, log into Tabroom, click Profile at top, and add them in the Pronouns field.
