We reached out to all competing coaches regarding OO and Informative Speaking. Based on the low number of entries, and because we want students to still receive the full benefit of three preliminary rounds of competition, we have agreed on the following format:

All six competitors in OO and all six competitors in Informative will advance to finals.

Final placement will be determined using cumulative ranks from all six ballots:

• Each competitor will receive one rank in each of the three preliminary rounds.
• Finals will be judged by three judges, giving each competitor three additional ranks.
• This means every competitor will finish with six total ranks: 3 preliminary ranks + 3 final-round ranks.
• Those six ranks will be added together.
• The competitor with the lowest cumulative total will be the tournament champion.
• Second through sixth place will then be determined in the same manner, from the next-lowest cumulative total to the highest.

Example:
A competitor receives preliminary ranks of 1, 2, 1 and final-round ranks of 2, 1, 1.

1 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 8

Their cumulative score would be 8.

In short: the lower the cumulative score, the higher the final placement.

This allows us to preserve all three preliminary rounds so students receive as much competitive practice and feedback as possible, while still producing meaningful final placements despite the small field.
