Congress Legislation and Schedule

Congress Schedule and Legislation

We will follow this schedule for Congress. We are anticipating enough entries that we will need a semifinal round. Congress participants need to be aware of when finals will take place to guarantee that there are no conflicts with individual events entries. All sessions will take place at Plano West HS.

Note: We are scheduling sessions so that we can maximize floor debate time. Preliminary sessions will feature 8-9 contestants so the session can be conducted in a two hour time frame. Semifinals and finals will feature no more than 12 contestants in a session. Contestants will be discouraged from taking recesses. Contestants will be expected to use points of personal privilege if they wish to leave the chamber.

Students entered in Congress may cross-enter in Pattern B events. Please note that the Prelims & Semifinals of Congress overlaps with the entirety of Pattern A Prelims, and Finals of Congress will overlap with Round 3 of Pattern B. While the tab staff will communicate with each other, it will ultimately be the obligation of the student to navigate this conflict should it arise. We will not hold either round past it's normal completion for cross-entered students.
