Rosemount Irish Invitational

2016 — Rosemount, MN/US

Rosemount Irish Debate is pleased to invite you to attend our annual Irish Invitational on Saturday, October 1, 2016.

We will offer varsity, junior varsity and novice divisions in Lincoln-Douglas and public forum debate.  We will also offer a single division of congressional debate.  All rounds will take place at Rosemount Senior High School, 3335 142nd St. W., Rosemount, MN.

Our current plan is that rounds will not be flighted in any division.  We intend to offer five rounds of LD and PF, and roughly five and one-half hours of congress.

There will be a final round in both varsity LD and varsity PF.  Final rounds in other divisions are under consideration.

Entry fees will be $10 in LD and congress, and $20 in PF.  Checks should be made payable to Rosemount Debate.  You may bring them to registration, or send them to Rosemount Debate, c/o Cort Sylvester, at Rosemount High School (address above).

Please provide one judge for every two entries in both LD and PF, and one judge for every six entries in congress.

All divisions of public forum will use the September/October NSDA topic, "Resolved:  In United States public K-12 schools, the probable cause standard ought to apply to searches of students."

Novice LD will use the September/October NSDA novice topic, "Resolved: Civil disobedience in a democracy is morally justified."

Varsity and JV LD will use the September/October NSDA topic, "Resolved:  Countries ought to prohibit the production of nuclear power."

Congressional debate legislation has been posted--it is accessible via the link on the right-hand side of this page.  Please contact me if you have any difficulty opening it (csylvester@nilanjohnson.com)
