ENTRY and REGISTRATION

Enter on Tabroom.com.   Initial Entry Deadline is 9/22/17.  See Tabroom for drop and change deadlines.

Entry and judge fees will be set on Monday, September 25, at noon central time. You will be charged for any entries dropped after this time.

 ENTRY LIMITS

We are not limiting school entries at this point.  In the event that any one school has a majority of the entries in any one division, we will divide their entries into two separate color groups, and they will debate each other, possibly in front of their own judges.

DIVISION INFORMATION

IEs will be Friday evening only  2 Prelims + Final

PF will be Saturday only  5 Outrounds + appropriate outrounds

Student Congress will run as a Friday-only and again as a Saturday-only event.  (Example:  A student could do Friday Congress, and Saturday PF. Likewise a student could do Friday AND Saturday Congress.)  There will be awards for each day of Congress.

Novice LD

Friday-only:  4 single-flighted rounds + 1 outround.

Saturday-only:  4 single-flighted rounds + 1-2 outrounds.

Varsity LD:  Friday – Saturday 5 Prelims (double flighted) + outrounds

Novice & Varsity Policy:  Friday – Saturday  5 Prelims + appropriate outrounds

NOTE:  In Novice Policy, teams must observe the Iowa limits.  Please email Spencer Waugh @ spencer.waugh@simpson.edu for additional information.

 FEES

IEs: $10 per entry

PF: $20 per team

Policy: $30.00 per team

Novice LD: $10 per entry per day

Varsity LD: $20 per entry

Congress: $10 per student per day

EVENT RULES

Policy debaters will use the 2017-18 NSDA resolution, with 8 minute constructives and 5 minute rebuttals and 8 minutes of preparation time per team.

Lincoln-Douglas debaters will debate the September-October NSDA resolution, using the 6-3-7-3-4-6-3 format with 4 minutes of preparation time. Debaters should be guided in their preparation by the NSDA topic description for LD debate.

Public Forum debaters will debate the September-October resolution, using standard NSDA time format. Each round will begin with the coin flip, as prescribed by the NSDA event guidelines.
