Sandra Jones Memorial Sweepstakes Trophy
At the end of the tournament, the top school will receive the Sandra Jones Memorial Sweepstakes Trophy. Sandra Jones was the legendary speech, debate, and theatre teacher at Killough Middle School from 1979 until her passing in 2016.Named Texas Speech Communication Association Middle School Educator of the Year in 2008, Mrs. Jones was instrumental in promoting middle school speech and debate in Alief ISD, as well as on the local, state, and national level.
Entries will earn points for their school according to the following guidelines:
Individual Events
First Place = 12 points
Second Place = 10 points
Third Place = 8 points
Fourth Place = 6 points
Fifth Place = 4 points
Sixth Place = 2 points
Seventh Place = 1 point
Eighth Place = 1 point
Congressional Debate
First Place = 24 points
Second Place = 22 points
Third Place = 20 points
Fourth Place = 18 points
Fifth Place = 16 points
Sixth Place = 14 points
Seventh Place = 12 points
Eighth Place = 10 points
Ninth Place = 8 points
Tenth Place = 6 points
Eleventh Place = 4 points
Twelfth Place = 2 point
