Extemp-Specific Information

Students should always show up to Extemp first before other rounds they are cross-entered in, and students should report to draw as soon as possible.

Extemp Draw in Semifinals and Finals will happen on a rolling basis. We will begin draw for the semis at the 7L side of the swing at 1:30 pm. Draw for the Park side will begin as soon as possible after that. Students must come to draw and compete as soon as is possible for them to do so. As long as students draw for both sides of the swing by 3:30 pm and speak in their room by 4:00 pm, we will bump speakers and allow for cross-entry as necessary. The same logic applies for finals.

R2: Environment and Energy

Semifinals: Election Politics

Finals: US Foreign Policy

International Extemp on both sides of the swing:

R1: Europe

R2: International Economics

Semifinals: Central and South America

Finals: International Diplomacy

Novice Extemp will use a mix of both topics. Questions will be different for each side of the swing, but will fall under the same topic areas.
