2022 Southern MN NSDA Congressional Debate Tournament Friday November 18 (University of Minnesota - Twin Cities) Saturday, November 19 (Robbinsdale Cooper High School)

  1. The 2022 Southern MN District Tournament will take place at the (Friday) University of MN - Twin Cities West Bank and (Saturday) Robbinsdale Cooper High School (8230 47th Avenue N, New Hope MN). Friday will feature all preliminary rounds of the House. Semi-Finals and Finals in the House will be on Saturday. Two preliminary rounds of the senate will be on Friday. The third, and final, round will be on Saturday.

  2. Schools must provide one judge for every six Congressional debaters. The tournament is being hosted with Central NSDA.

  3. All registration will occur on tabroom.com. Entries must be registered by 6:00 p.m. CST on Friday, November 11th. You can choose which students will be together in a House from your school, but the distribution of those groupings into chambers will be randomized. Students must be an NSDA member no later than Friday, November 11th.

  4. Each school can submit two (2) pieces of legislation for debate. Legislation is due to dj@brynteson.info by Thursday, November 3rd at 9PM.

    House Semi Finals - Sustainable Fishing Act, Arctic Resolution with Canada, A Bill to forgive Argentina Debt
    House Finals - A Bill to Ban Plea Bargaining, Census Constitutional Amendment, A Resolution to recognize and protect Taiwan

  5. Entry fee is $10 per student. 6. New for 2022-23. preset, randomized recency (provided by the district committee) will be used in the District Congress; order of speakers will utilize the preset, randomized list, and order of questioners will follow the reverse order of the list. Direct questioning will be used in all sessions. Please see the NSDA Manual for details.
