Parking, Directions, Travel

Columbus High School is located at 1700 Cherokee Avenue, Columbus, GA, 31906.  You can generally trust your GPS to get you to Columbus, but once you reach Macon Road, your GPS will likely direct you along roads that may not be easily navigable by a bus.  The Dell Drive route below is the easiest for buses.

Directions from Atlanta/I-85:

From I-85 South, take Exit 21 for I-185 S/Columbus.  From I-185, take exit 6 for Macon Road.  Exit right onto Macon Road, go through the first two stop lights, then take a right onto Dell Drive.  From Dell Drive, take the second left onto 17^th Street.  Continue on 17^th for about a mile, then turn right onto Forest Avenue.  You’ll pass the CHS baseball field on the left, then take the second entrance to the parking lot (this is back entrance to the school).

Directions from East of Columbus:

Take GA-96 W/US-80 E toward Columbus. Once you reach Upatoi/Midland, turn left on the GA-22 Spur W/Macon Road.  Follow Macon Road, which will take you into midtown Columbus, then turn right onto Dell Drive and follow directions above.

Directions from South Georgia:

Take GA-520 W/US 280 toward Ft. Benning.  Merge onto 1-185 N to Atlanta, then take Exit 6 for Macon Road. Turn left onto Macon Road, then right onto Dell Drive, then follow directions above.

Important Parking Information:

The main entrance to CHS is on 17^th Street.  This entrance is fine for cars and small vans, but a bus will NOT be able to manage the turn when the drive wraps around to the front of the school.  Buses will need to use the Forest Avenue entrance (back of school) or Cherokee Avenue entrance (front of school) to access the main parking lot. There is only limited (parallel) parking directly in front of the school, so we encourage everyone to use the bus/student parking lot.

Hotels:
