Speech and Debate

Cross Entries:

• CX competitors cannot enter any other event.

• LD competitors may only enter 1 extemp event.

• Interp competitors may only enter 1 interp event AND 1 extemp event.

• Extemp competitors may only enter 1 extemp event AND either LD or 1 interp event.

Judge Obligations:

• 1 judge per 2 LDers (or fraction thereof)

• 1 judge per 6 speech entries (or fraction thereof)

• 1 judge per 2 CX teams (or fraction thereof)

Judges in CX cannot cover other obligations. Judges in LD can cover speech entries, but it will be a busy day for them.

Judges

We would rather have your judges than your money. Judges will need a tabroom.com account to access ballots and tournament announcements.

Schools may request to buy out judges at a rate of $125/judge. This buyout is contingent on tournament director approval.

• Buyout requests must be made by January 7 at 5pm CST. No buyout requests will be accepted after this time.

• Schools will be notified on a rolling basis if their requests are approved. Schools will be notified by January 10 at 5pm CST at the latest.

• Once a buyout request has been approved, the school is responsible for that fee regardless of entry or judge changes.

Please note that the entry deadline for competitors is Tuesday, January 11. Any entries made after January 7 at 5pm MUST be covered by judges (there is no buyout option). 

Uncovered entries will be dropped, including dropped judges the day of the event. Please please please make every effort to meet your judge obligation so we can run a smooth event.
