Heart of the Rockies Panopoulos Bowl

2021 — Hybrid, WY/US

Invitation

Coaches,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to check out our tournament and hopefully we will see you in December!  Please read the entire invitation for some exciting changes to our tournament.

Entries:

The first major change you will see for our tournament is that we are offering a novice/varsity on-site tournament providing an opportunity for your whole team to attend the tournament!  With four guaranteed rounds for each competitor in each division, this is sure to be fun for each of your schools.  We will then move to a semifinal for varsity members culminating in a final round.  Novice members will move straight to finals.

The second major change is that there are no entry limitations per school.  However, we are limited in space.  Each event does have a cap.  As soon as the cap is reached, entries will be placed on a waiting list.

The third change.  To try and accommodate those that are still hesitant in coming to an in-person tournament, we will be also offering a RECORDED OPTION FOR SPEECH EVENTS ONLY.  We will have those individuals competing in the virtual side of the tournament, which is separate from the in-person option.  For those point conscious coaches…the answer is yes.  This does mean you can enter your in-person entries and double them in the virtual side of the tournament.  (Example:  A varsity member could enter in VOO recorded and participate in VOO on-site thereby receiving points for both.)  These recorded events must be entered (with links to presentations) by Tuesday November 30th by 5:00 pm.  We will be disseminating those rounds early Wednesday morning to judges.  We will only be offering this in an open/varsity level.

Awards:  We will be awarding first-sixth place for each of the events, with the first places receiving the Panopoulos Bowl.  These awards will be awarded in the following divisions:  Varsity On-site and Varsity Recorded.  We will be awarding first-sixth place for each of the events for novice as well but will not be awarding the Panopoulos Bowl to first place.

Sweepstakes:  Sweepstakes awards will be separated into three classifications: 4A, 3A, 2A/1A.  We will be recognizing the top three schools in each classification.  Sweepstakes will be tallied from both novice and varsity events.

Debate Topics:

PF Debate:  November/December

LD Debate: November/December

Policy Debate: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its protection of water resources in the United States.
