Hired Judging

Hired judging is available in LD, PF, and policy debate. Hired judges are not available for the Sophomore Throw-Down.

The cost to hire a judge is $110 per round. To cover a single entry in each event would then be $330 (as each first entry in LD and each entry in PF and policy require 3 rounds of commitment). Consult our judge obligation requirements to calculate additional hire fees.

You cannot un-hire. Once a hired judge request is approved, changes can't be made -- we can't "un-hire" folks that we contract to be at the tournament. If you hire a judge from the tournament and later find a judge who can cover your commitment, you are still expected to pay the hired judge fee. In the interest of a quality judge pool, the tournament may agree to cancel a tournament hire if doing so means having a flow-based, circuit-experienced judge added.
