SDI 2026 Reminder
LAMDL Summer Debate Institute 2026
As we approach the end of the year, we want to be sure to remind everyone about summer opportunities, most importantly the LAMDL Summer Debate Institute. It will be five days from Tuesday July 28th through Saturday August 1st, 2026 at USC. The Priority Deadline to apply for camp is June 10, 2026. While space is limited, we encourage all of your new and returning students to join us.

Instructor Application: https://forms.gle/d27iVHJNHdDDuFYZ6
First Year Out Intern Application: https://forms.gle/QiAi3vuqLhhVYEoA8
A detailed schedule of camp will be sent to coaches and registered students as we get closer to camp. We will offer 3 divisions for students: Novice, JV, and Varsity. Novice will focus on brand new debaters, JV on returning debaters, and Open on experienced debaters.
LAMDL SDI does not charge tuition or fees to LAMDL debaters, though these students may need money to purchase lunch each day. Lunch will be provided to students who opt in on the application. Otherwise, students are allowed to bring money to buy lunch on campus or sack lunch from home.
This year, we are opening some spaces to guest students for a fee, but camp will still primarily be a resource for LAMDL debaters.
This is a commuter camp (not overnight). There will be bus pick-ups with limited stops that will be released to coaches and registered students. Unlike at tournaments, not all schools will have pick-ups. Students can commute to and from the campus independently. School pick-ups will be determined by projected attendance from applications received by the priority deadline.
Camp notifications and details will be shared directly with you, but we will also make them available on our website (lamdl.org/sdi) or through the LAMDL Discord (https://discord.gg/lamdldebate). While we will be using social media, email, text, and our website to send out updates to students, coaches are our most direct line of communication with students. I know this will be difficult, especially over the summer, but please try to maintain communication with your team. If you have a student, such as a team captain, that you will be delegating communication responsibilities to, please let me know the best way to communicate with them.
