2026 End of Year Community Awards
Because we did not get to celebrate in person at City Champs, we've decided to move our End of Year Community Awards to T8. These Awards include:

Community Spotlight Award
Oscar Rosa Alumni Excellence Award
Volunteer Service Award
Coach of the Year Award
New Debater of the Year Award
Most Improved Debater of the Year Award
Debater of the Year Award

Descriptions for the awards are available below and on the nomination form. The End of Year Awards are special because coaches will vote on these awards. Each school gets one ballot. In order to give everyone more time to submit their nominations and to review them before voting, I've created this nomination form:

We will accept nominees in each category until 5PM on Wednesday the 14th. Once I've closed the nomination form, I will open a ballot form and share what everyone wrote with coaches.

Here is a brief description of what each award recognizes:

Community Spotlight Award

The Community Spotlight Award recognizes students that represent the best of LAMDL. We look for debaters whose dedication, service, and positive impact go beyond personal competitive success and strengthens the community overall.

Oscar Rosa Alumni Excellence Award

The Oscar Rosa Alumni Excellence award recognizes former debaters who have demonstrated a an honorable level of commitment to the LAMDL community. We look for alumni that simultaneously have continued to grow in their own professional and personal endeavors while still being able to give back to the next generation of LAMDL.

Volunteer Service Award

The Volunteer Service Award recognizes individuals who have selflessly dedicated their time and energy to serve the LAMDL community. We look for volunteers whose commitment and generosity are irreplaceable.

Coach of the Year Award

The Coach of the Year Award recognizes a coach who has demonstrated exceptional leadership to their team, school, and LAMDL. We look for a coach who has had a standout season this year that is reflected in their team's personal and/or competitive growth. We also use this award to recognize coaches that have committed themselves to this activity for many years before this year.

New Debater of the Year Award

The New Debater of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding first-year debater who has shown exceptional skill, growth, and dedication to this activity. We look for debaters who deserve to be celebrated for their enthusiasm, talent, and promising contributions to the team and the future of the league.

Most Improved Debater of the Year Award

The Most Improved Debater of the Year Award recognizes a debater who has shown remarkable growth, dedication, and perseverance over the season. We look for debaters who deserve recognition for their commitment to learning, skill development, and continual improvement.

Debater of the Year Award

The Debater of the Year Award recognizes a debater who has demonstrated exceptional skill, leadership, and dedication throughout the season. We look for debaters who had a stand out year and high school career that is worthy of recognition for their argumentation, teamwork, and commitment to their team and LAMDL overall.
