Asynchronous Speech Recording Rules

Asynchronous Speech Recording Rules

Deadline:
Video links must be added to students’ Tabroom.com registration by 3:00 PM on the day prior to the competition (Thursday, Feb 12th).

How to Add Video Links

Students will record their performance and upload it to any platform that generates a shareable video link. The link must have permissions set so that anyone with the link can view the video. Unlisted YouTube videos are the most common option.

The coach will then:

  1. Log into Tabroom.com

  2. Click the “Entries” tab on the school’s registration

  3. Click the blue-and-white Edit button next to the relevant entry

  4. Paste the video link where it says “Link to Performance Video”

  5. Fill out both Piece/title information and Author (for speeches the author is the students name)
  6. Save the entry

Recording Rules

Students competing in asynchronous events must follow the recording rules used at the 2021 National Tournament.

Note:

a. Professional equipment enhancements may not be used. Professional equipment includes professional lighting kits, professional-grade camera or audio recording devices, and softboxes.

b. Recordings may not be edited using any software. All submissions must be continuous, non-stop footage of the entire performance.

c. Recordings may not be trimmed for any reason, including removing time spent walking to or from the camera to start or stop the recording.

d. The length of the recording should not be much longer than the performance itself. Just enough time to start the video, get set, perform and end the video.

e. Competitors may not use green screens, virtual backgrounds, or on-screen text.

f. The camera must remain stationary throughout the entire performance. Zooming or panning is not permitted.

g. Students may move partially or fully out of frame during the recording.

h. Other individuals may be present while filming, butaudience interaction such as laughter, applause, or verbal responses may not be included in the performance.
