NIETOC and KSHSAA Information

We are pleased to be a NIETOC Bid School again this year. The NIETOC national tournament will be held May 8-10, 2026, at Shakopee High School in Shakopee, MN. I hear it's nice that time of year.

There are three ways to qualify for the NIETOC, detailed on their website: https://nietoc.org/student-coach-information/

Students who achieve the following results in HI, DI, DUO, INFO, OO, POI, and Extemp will each earn one bid toward NIETOC qualification:

• 10-19 entries - FIRST PLACE bid
• 20-34 entries - FIRST, SECOND, and THIRD PLACE bid
• 35-50 entries - ALL FINALISTS bid (we will break 8 to finals in these cases)
• 51+ entries - ALL SEMIFINALISTS bid (we will run a concurrent consolation room in this case to maximize bids).

We will not be running a true semifinals round regardless of entry numbers - we don't have the flexibility to adjust our tournament end time. I don't anticipate having the judges available to accept enough entries to make this an issue in the first place.

KSHSAA State

Please ensure your previous qualifiers are listed on the KSHSAA website. We want to make sure all our new state qualifiers get recognized.

KSHSAA State Qualifying Standards:

• 6-25 entries - Two state qualifiers
• 26-40 entries - Three state qualifiers
• 41-60 entries - Four state qualifiers
• 61-80 entries - Five state qualifiers
• 81+ entries - Six state qualifiers
