Payment Information

• Entry fees are $140 per open team and $75 per novice team due by September 25th. Please see the “Payment Information” page for details.

• Entry fees are $75 per open team and $50 per novice team for teams/schools outside of the Bay Area (defined as Contra Costa, Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara County)

• The judging fee is $150 per uncovered team. This will be assessed as of October 5th. Judges are obligated through one round after the last team from their school is eliminated.

• There is a late fee of $10 for adding/dropping a team or after the deadline (in addition to the entry fee), or for any changes in the last 24 hours before the tournament.

• The missed ballot penalty is $20/prelim round and $50/elim round. This includes ballots not picked up, and those with no decision entered within 30 minutes after the end of the round.

The Debate Society of Berkeley is committed to making the tournament accessible to all teams, regardless of means. If the entry fees impose financial hardship, please fill out the fee waiver request form.


Please note your organization name when paying. We currently accept:

• Venmo (highly recommended): Search @DebSocBerkeley

• Credit Card: Go to https://asuc.org/donate/, click on the “Donate Now!” Button, enter “Debate Society of Berkeley” in the ‘Donation to:’ section, select “Program/Event Registration” under ‘Reason for donation’, and input your organization name under ‘Name’. You MUST input these fields or else there is a high likelihood your payment will not be received by us.

• If you are unable to use Venmo, we can also accept mail-in checks at the following address:
