Brookings Bell
2025 — Brookings, SD/US
BIS/BIA
The Bell Speech & Debate Tournament is committed to providing a safer and more equitable speech and debate competition. To that end, we will offer a Belonging and Inclusion Station (BIS) as a tournament resource to provide interpersonal support to anyone who feels that an element of the tournament has excluded them. The BIS will also provide safeguards to any concern about behavior that violates our harassment and discrimination policy (see below).
Brookings School District is committed to a policy of nondiscrimination in relation to race, sex, religion, national background, handicap, gender identity and other human differences. Respect for the dignity and worth of each individual will be paramount in the establishment and administration of all policies. Any behavior that is willfully, maliciously, or repeatedly meant to harass, bully, or intimidate another will not be tolerated. Means include (but are not limited to) physical, verbal, electronic, digital, or written communication. Learners and staff are expected to report this type of behavior to school officials.
Anyone seeking interpersonal support or needing to raise concerns regarding violations of the harassment and discrimination policy may visit our Belonging and Inclusion Advocate, Katie Jacobs, in the Library. For full details and procedures, please visit https://tinyurl.com/BellBIS.
