This award honors the competitor that brings positivity, encouragement, and genuine community spirit to every tournament. It recognizes those who lift others up, help new teams feel welcome, and embody the heart of the River Valley Speech and Debate League. Named for the league’s early “Peachy” misprint, this award reminds us that our community thrives on joy, kindness, and growth.

True Grit Award

Award Description:

This award honors the competitor who demonstrates toughness, determination, and a refusal to quit. It recognizes the student who pushes through challenges, adapts under pressure, and keeps moving forward even when the season becomes difficult. The recipient shows the kind of resilience and steady strength that defines a true competitor and inspires the entire team.

Most Improved Debater

Honors a student who has grown significantly in skill, confidence, and round performance.

Most Improved IE Performer

Recognizes a competitor whose presentation, interpretation, or delivery has advanced noticeably this season.

Rising Star Award

Honors a new or younger competitor showing strong potential through hard work and early success.

Heart of the Team Award

Honors the student who brings encouragement, positivity, and support at every practice and tournament.
