What is a Novice?? And other important information!
Who can attend? or What is a novice?
- All students who are brand new to competitions (any grade)
- All current middle school students
- All 9th graders who competed in middle school
- Any student who has LESS then 75 NSDA points
- Any student doing LD (Lincoln Douglas debate) for the FIRST time.
Other information:
1. September/October topic for PFD
2. September NOVICE topic for LD (Resolved: In the United States, national service ought to be mandatory.)
3. September NSDA Congress legislation (this will be narrowed down to 6 pieces of legislation once the NSDA releases the information.)
4. A notecard may be used for Extemp and for Impromptu.
5.ALL speech events may use black notebooks- memory will not be required.
6. Judge requirements need to be met. High school students with at least 250 NSDA points may judge but please keep this to a minimum. Student judges will be asked to eat and hang out in the student area. There will be some sort of discount on their lunch price. Let me encourage all to attend this early novice tournament. The goal is to get our novice students out to a competition and to get some judge comments that will help them to progress on to more tournaments!
