Tabbing Procedures

Extemp Debate:

Every competitor is guaranteed two preliminary rounds:
Round 1 is pre-set, and Round 2 is power-matched (you will always be on the opposite side if possible).

Round 3 is the first bracket round; to maintain a bracket (2, 4, 8, or 16), those with the worst scores will be eliminated. We will be looking at the win/loss ratio, speaker points, and specific ballot feedback. Then, once we're in a bracket, it will be a SET bracket, and under limited circumstances, the Tab room will break the bracket. These rounds will continue in a sudden-death mode until the winner has been crowned! Pay close attention to postings for this reason, and if for any reason you aren't free a certain day or otherwise can't make it to your round, let the Tab room know IMMEDIATELY so we can move your round or section.

The awards ceremony on the 22nd at 5 pm will recognize 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, and a Finalist.

Update 03.20.2025:

Currently there are 8 entries, and in the interest of having Semis, we will be breaking all 2-0s and the 1-1s with the highest speaker points

Mixed Speech:

Every competitor is guaranteed two preliminary rounds:
Both Round 1 and Round 2 are pre-set, and due to the inherent recency bias, your speaking order will be adjusted accordingly.

Round 3 is the final round; the top 4 competitors will go to the finals.

The awards ceremony on the 22nd will recognize 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, and a Finalist.
