Extemp Debate Overview
Linked [HERE] is a little guide to Extemp Debate, but in general, it's a combination of Lincoln-Douglas style rounds and decorum with Public Forum style cases, all rolled together with Extemp Speaking style limited prep time. That's right, you typically only have 30 minutes to write your entire case.
Extemp Debate is fairly simple and only 15-20 minutes with a short construction, cross-examination, and two rebuttal periods. For some reason, NSDA claims that Extemp Debate uses 'Proposition' and 'Opposition', but we will be using 'Affirmative' and 'Negative' with PF and LD-style resolutions generated by tournament administrators.
