Invitation
The SHS forensics squad would like to invite you RAM “Heartbreaker” Tournament to be held on February 21 and 22nd at Seaman High School.
Friday’s events will be Congressional Debate and Lincoln-Douglas Debate. In the Congressional Debate, we will use the Flint Hills Kansas legislation. The L-D topic will be the January-February topic as published on the NSDA website.
Saturday events will include Info 10, Info 7, Original Oratory, Domestic Extemp, International Extemp, Dramatic Interp, Humorous Interp, Duo Interp, Prose, Poetry, Program of Oral Interpretation, and Impromptu. We hope to START finals at 1:45 so please plan accordingly. We reserve the right to make round 3 the final round in events with 8 or fewer entries. Combined or collapsed events based on low entries will be communicated prior to the tournament. We will have a concession stand available and will afford amicable time for a fast food lunch.
Medals will be awarded to the top six in each event. The sweepstakes will be based on the top 15 entries from the 3 preliminary rounds. There will be no minimum entry to qualify for the team sweepstakes. There will be sweepstakes awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We will follow KSHSAA rules in general, and NSDA rules where KSHSAA is not applicable. Judges are instructed not to penalize students in HI, DI, and Duo/Duet who conform to KSHSAA rules in other classifications. Entry fees are $6 per student entry based upon the entry we confirm on Feb. 14th. Schools will initially be limited to a total of 18 entries with no more than four in an event.
Students may compete in up to 3 events with only one scheduled event (. Extra entries will be allowed only as space permits, with precedence going to Flint Hills Schools. Please notify us of any changes ASAP to ensure a well-scheduled tournament.
