CBSR IE and LD 3

2025 — Redlands, CA/US

CBSR Pre-Tournament Information

Hello all! CBSRIE/LD 3 is just around the corner!

I apologize that this is a bit late - student teaching is harder than I expected, and bumps in the road have prevented me from sending this out sooner. This is a long email, so buckle up because I am trying to keep the number of emails I send to a minimum.

The tournament is live! Please finish submitting your entries by clicking here! https://www.tabroom.com/index/tourn/index.mhtml?tourn_id=34330 If you need help entering students, please email me and I can help you through the process.

PRE-TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:

1. Entries Entries must be submitted to Tabroom by Thursday, January 23 at 11:59 PM. Any entries after that must be emailed to me for approval. It is requested that entries and judges be submitted ASAP so that the host school can get an accurate headcount and plan accordingly. Also, THERE IS NO NOVICE AT THIS TOURNAMENT! Congratulations to all students who are competing in the open division for the first time! :)

2. EXTEMP Because Redlands does not have wifi, a chromebook cart and hotspots will be available to Extemp competitors in the Extemp Prep Room, currently located in the West Side of the Library. The judges room will be in the East side of the library.

3. Judges PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR JUDGE COUNT IS CORRECT.If you don't have enough judges to cover your entries, you must drop students.Fractions round up. You may double dip judges in both pools, please email me if tabroom is not letting you do so.

Judge obligations: 1 judge => per 2 entries in LD or fraction thereof 1 judge => Per 6 entries in IE or fraction thereof Example: 10 LD entries and 6 IE entries = 6 total judges, 5 LD and 1 speech 5 LD entries and 3 IE entries = 4 total judges, 3 LD and 1 Speech 3 LD entries and 34 IE entries = 8 total judges 2 LD and 6 Speech Furthermore, please mark any first-year out judges or neutral judges if possible.

I am hoping that knowing who is neutral ahead of time will speed up the judge placement process in final rounds. Additionally, the students would greatly appreciate it if your judges had a paradigm detailing their preferences for judging debate. :)
