Harassment, bullying and all codes of conduct are governed by the rules of the Newark Public Schools. All students and adults are expected to govern themselves accordingly both inside and outside of debates. Debate is an extension of the legal and moral norms of the classroom. Conduct that would not be tolerated inside of a classroom cannot be tolerated inside of this debate tournament. The Harassment and Bullying policy for the Newark Public Schools will be made available. There will be an independent person from the school district available during the tournament to hear complaints and take the appropriate, professional action in an effort to protect the safety of all students.

All judges and competitors must respect the humanity of all of our students and adults. Respect the gender pronouns of debaters and judges. Judge and compete with an understanding that fundamental fairness is expected to all students and adults regardless of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
