MS Radio Guidlines

Round 1 - Commercial Copy (3 min prep time) each student will have 3 min to read over a commercial to themselves. Then they read the copy as if they are on the radio selling a product. Commercial copy is provided by the tournament and given to the judge. It cannot leave the room.

Round 2 - Student prepared newscast (3 min with 15 second grace either side) student reads from their copy and they should provide judge with a copy of their script to go by as well.

Round 3 - Tournament newscast (15 min prep in extemp prep room.) Students prep a newscast provided by the tournament with only sign on, transitions and sign off written by the student. They will then come to competition room in intervals.

Finals - News Packet student prepared newscast (30 min prep in extemp prep room.) Students enter room one at a time in intervals to compete. 5 min maximum length with 15 second grace either side. Students are given a packet of news, sports and a weather forcast, plus a commercial prompt. They have 30 min to put together a 5 min newscast with the information provided.
