Judges Information & Suggestions

First of all thank you so much for agreeing to take time out on a Saturday to help these students become better speakers and actors! Just a few notes about judging at the Krider;

• Judge each presentation on the merits of the speaker, not what you think of the content of their speech or selection. This is about them, not us.
• Time limits are different for many of the teams here. Not just between middle and high school, but between states (KY/TN). Again, please judge the presentation based on what the student has prepared, even if the rules on the event happen to be for TN only.
• Just be kind. Offer constructive words of advice on how to improve their performance.
• Please try to write something more than “good job” or “I enjoyed your performance” and then nothing else. Good rule of thumb is to write at least three good things you noticed and two things they can work on, and there’s always something they can work on.
• Please do not ask the students where they go to school.
• Please do not give oral critiques after their performances. Save it for the ballot.
• If you have difficulty with the online balloting, please come to the tabroom information table and we will be happy to assist you in fixing things.
