06 - General Information & Arrival Instructions

General Information:

• Brackets will not be broken
• Bellaire students will be competing and will be eligible to advance
• Participating schools may only enter judges who are high school graduates, unless arrangements have been made with Tab staff on a case-by-case basis
• UDL schools requesting help with their fees should contact Isaac Chao at: ichao@houstonisd.org
• Initial Entry Deadline: 01/31/2025 @ 6:00 pm or until our facilities are full
• Drop Deadline: 01/31/2025 @ 6:00 pm -entry fees will be set at this time
• Nuisance Fines apply after: 02/03/2025 @ 6:00 pm
• Debate drops on the day of the tournament/no-shows in debate will be charged double drop fees
• The 15 minute forfeit rule is in effect. Be mindful that Tabroom does not send out text messages anymore, so it's very important that you and your students check for postings. "I didn't see postings until X 'o clock" is not sufficient. Forfeits are final.

Arrival Instructions:

• Please do not arrive prior to 12:00 pm; there will be nowhere for you to go.
• There is no parking on campus for school buses. Buses that drop off students and need a place to go can either find street parking on Maple (check for signage), or navigate towards Meyerland plaza to look for open parking lots in that area. Unfortunately, while Bellaire has loading and unloading zones for buses, those also correspond to fire lanes and therefore buses may not park there for extended periods of time.
• Schools arriving prior to the start of the tournament will be directed by volunteers to our auditorium, where we will hold students, coaches, and judges until our dismissal procedures have concluded.
• Our schedule is tight since dismissal will not occur until 4:00 pm and teachers will be on campus until 4:15 pm. Schools will either proceed directly from the auditorium to the start of rounds or to the dining commons at 4:15 pm.
• Registration will be in the auditorium from 12:00 - 4:30 pm. Afterwards, it will move to the Library.
• Cars and vans can park in our parking garage (entrance is on Maple Street). When leaving parking garage walk out the exit gate of the parking garage and walk toward front door near flagpole (along Rice Avenue). Enter front door (Door 1) and your group will be escorted to the auditorium.
• Buses can drop students off on Rice Avenue in front of the school. There will NOT be a place to park buses on campus until after 4:30pm. AFTER 4:30pm buses may park in our bus lane which can be entered from Maple Street. The bus lane is adjacent to the football field. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PARK SCHOOL BUSES IN OUR PARKING GARAGE!!! The bus will not fit inside and will have to back up down a long narrow lane to get back to the street.
