Tournament Guidelines

Welcome to the Prosper Eagles TFA NIETOC Tournament hosted at Prosper High School on September 14, 2024. We are so glad you decided to join us for this tournament, and we look forward to all the competition and support.

Things you need to know:

Category A: HI, POE, DUO, OO, USX, IX
Category B: DI, PRO, DA, INFO, POI

Congressional Debate:

Congressional Debate students may cross-enter into Category A events. They may only cross-enter in one Category A event.

Congress TFA Fall Docket:

Prelims: 1,2,3,4,
Semis: 5,6,7,8,
Finals: 9,10,11,12

Advancing to Finals note: If we advance straight to finals from prelims, we will be skipping the semis docket and using the finals docket.

Novice Congress:

Round 1: Prelims: 1.2,3,4

Round 2(Finals): Semis: 5,6,7,8

Speech Events:

Students competing in Speech events can cross-enter in up to 3 events in either Category A or B. Students who are competing in either Domestic or International Extemp may only cross-enter into Category A events.

LD Debate:

Varity/Novice Topic: Fall 2024 NSDA Topic

Policy Debate:

Topic: Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.

NIETOC BID:

During with the 2024-2025 competitive season, bids are gained at the following levels:

0-19 contestants = FIRST PLACE BID

20-34 contestants = FIRST, SECOND & THIRD PLACE BIDS

35-50 contestants = FINAL ROUND BIDS

51-70 contestants = SEMIFINAL ROUND BIDS

71-99 contestants = QUARTERFINAL ROUND BIDS

100 + contestants = OCTAFINAL ROUND BIDS

Miscellaneous Notes:

1-Breaking Brackets: Debate brackets will not be broken.

2-TFA Rules: All qualifying events follow TFA rules. PRO/POE will follow TFA rules, but selections that fit either of the UIL categories will also be allowed.

3-District Employee Registration: All competitors must be registered with their schools and accompanied by a school district employee

4-Cross-Entries Information: All debate events, with the exception of Congress, may not cross-enter.
