Tournament Rules

Debate

Varsity Policy, Novice Policy, VLD, NLD, PFD, Congressional Debate and World Schools Debate contestants may only enter in one debate event.

Debaters (except Policy) competitors may cross-enter in extemporaneous speaking.

It is the expectation that PF, CX and World Schools debaters will participate and speak in debate rounds on camera in unique (separate) spaces/environments. 

A novice is defined as a competitor in their first school year in high school TFA competitions. 

Policy Debate will be debating the 2020 - 2021 Resolution – Resolved: The United States federal government should enact substantial criminal justice reform in the United States in one or more of the following: forensic science, policing, sentencing. 

Varsity LD and Novice LD Debate will be debating the January/February NSDA Resolution  – Resolved: States ought to ban lethal autonomous weapons.

Varsity PF and Novice PF Debate will be debating the January NSDA Resolution - Resolved: The National Security Agency should end its surveillance of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.

Extemp

Students may enter only one extemp.  Novice extempers are consider to be in their first year of high school competitive speech and/or debate. 

 

Individual Events

Contestants may cross-enter in these events. Students videos should be submitted by Wednesday 1/20/2021 at 7pm. The video recordings will be used for rounds through finals.
