Gotham Policy Scrimmage

2014 — NY/US

CUNY is happy to invite local programs to a late-November mini-tournament/scrimmage to assist with some missing competitive events from this Fall's calendar.

We offer 6 prelims of college novice policy debate, with the option of a JV/Open RR if there is sufficient interest.  Due to space limitations, we are capping entries at 4 per school for now, but will allow additional entries as we confirm additional spaces.  In addition to the College Tournamnet, we wil be inviting local high school policy debaters to watch rounds and speak with directors during the tournament.  We will also have the option of a "Judges Forum" for newer judge with less experience to talk to and shadow more experienced judges in the event.

Fees:

The event is no fee.  At this time, we will not be providing meals, but hope that the late Saturday start and availability of local vendors in NYC will allow for sufficient meal opportunities at breakfast and lunch.  Awards will be provided for top speakers and elim teams.

We cannot provide judging for uncovered teams.  You may hire judging at $100/team or $200 for a full judging commitment.

Lodging:

The Holiday Inn on West 57th Street is the closest hotel if you are in need of lodging.  The late Saturday start is to accommodate teams driving in the morning of to reduce hotel costs.

Currently rounds are scheduled for North Hall on West 59th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues.  Columbus Circle is the closest subway with the 1ACBD or the NR at 57th Street.
