Information about 2023 NAUDL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The top 2 teams will win a spot at the 2024 Urban Debate National Championships (UDNC) -- to be held on Thursday, April 11-Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

Each league can qualify/enter two varsity teams (though first and second year debaters can compete if they qualify). There are no JV or novice divisions

If your team should qualify, the NAUDL will pay for hotel, air travel to O'Hare Airport for one team, one coach and one league staff member. The second team's travel and lodging expenses must be borne by individual leagues. Six meals will be provided for all participants. We will be asking our league board members, as in the past, for contributions to offset those costs for the second team, second team's coach and any assistant coaches. We appreciate their ongoing generosity.

Given the relative proximity of Chicagoland to Detroit, you may choose to drive to Evanston. The NAUDL will reimburse us for one team's driving costs plus hotel. IF YOU WOULD RATHER DRIVE THAN FLY, SHOULD YOU QUALIFY, PLEASE LET US KNOW BY TEXT OR EMAIL AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE. The last time the UDNC was in Chicago, one team chose to drive. Reach out to John Lawson for more information on the NAUDL Nationals.
