Dear High School OralInterpCoaches:

The Milbank High School National Speech and Debate Association Chapter invites you and your high school speakers to attend the Annual Milbank OralInterpFestival on Monday, October2, 2023.

Entries and Regulations

A maximum of three entries in all eventsis allowed.Rooms are a limitation as are judges.Because this is an after-school event and we want to get students home at a reasonable hour,NO student may be entered orparticipatein more than 2 events under any circumstances.Each division will follow the rules that the SDHSAA has established.That includes the 10-minute time limit for all events except storytelling (Perseverance/Resilience), which is 5-minutes.If your readers’ theatre groupsrequirespecific chairs or stools, be sure to bring them with you.

Schedule

The following schedule will be used:

2:35-3:00—Registration in Theatre

3:00—General Meeting

3:20—Round I

4:35—Round II

5:50—Round III

Pizza, beverages, candy, & baked goods will be for sale at MHS at the concession stand.

7:15—Results or ASAP

Entry Fees and Judging requirements

Please register athttp://milbankoralinterp.tabroom.com/by Friday, September29that 4:00 PM. If youdon’thave aTabroomaccount, you can set one up for free at tabroom.com to complete your registration.

An entry fee of $3.00 per individualeventshas been set.Duet entries are$6.00and Reader’s Theatre is $8.00.

One judge isrequiredfor every five entriesor fraction thereof. A hired judge will cost $60.00.All fees and judge requirements are final as entries show on Friday, September29that 4:00 PM.Because finding judges is one of my primary stressors in hosting the meet, the more judges you can bring, the less stress I will experience. I willtruly appreciateit.

Awards

Each performance will be scored out of 30 points.

SUPERIOR 26-30EXCELLENT 21-25GOOD16-20

All competitors will receive a ribbon based on their composite score.

EXCELLENT PLUS77-71 POINTS

EXCELLENT70-62 POINTS
