The Moorhead HS Debate Team is excited to welcome teams from Minnesota and North Dakota to our second annual Congressional Debate Tournament, held at Moorhead High School on Saturday, Oct. 14. Legislation is now posted (thank you to the MDTA and debate coaches/students for assembling the docket). Note: We will reserve the last two bills in the packet (3-D Printed Homes and Union Empowerment) for a potential final round.

Schedule:

Registration: 7:30-8:00 am

Session I: 8:30-10:30 am

Break: 10:30-10:45 am

Session II: 10:45 am -12:45 pm

Lunch: 12:45-1:30 pm

Finals: 1:45-3:45 pm

Awards: 4:15 pm or ASAP

We plan on offering two divisions of debate, Varsity and JV/Novice.

Direct questioning will be used in all sessions in both divisions; however, we will not utilize a preset speaking order. Presiding Officers are expected to recognize precedence and recency, resetting after each session.

Should entry numbers warrant multiple chambers in a division, we will advance the top students from each chamber to a final round. Consolation chambers may be assembled based on entry levels and judge availability. Awards will be given to the top 8 students in each division.

A judge hospitality lounge will be available throughout the day. Concessions will be available for purchase for all students.
