Dear Director of Forensics, Coaches, and Students,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, President and CEO Byron Arthur, and the faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to invite you to The Delores Taylor Arthur School Debate and Speech Invitational to be held on Friday, October 6th and Saturday, October 7th on the campus of The University of New Orleans. We will be honored to host you as this is the fifth tournament hosted by our school. The tournament will consist of competition in Varsity and Novice Policy Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and Public Forum Debate. World Schools Debate and Legislative Debating will also be offered. Speech competition will be held in Oral Interpretation of Literature, Program Oral Interpretation, Oratorical Declamation, Original Oratory, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Impromptu Speaking, and Extemporaneous Speaking.

We are pleased to share that our tournament is a qualifier for the Tournament of Champions in Lincoln-Douglas, Policy, Public Forum, and Speech.

We are appreciative of The University of New Orleans for partnering with us to make this event possible.

Students may not cross-enter between debate and speech. Students may only compete in either debate or speech. The exception is Congress, which will be held prior to the tournament before other rounds begin. Speech competitors may compete in up to two events per pattern. The events by pattern are listed below.

Pattern A: Declamation, Duo Interpretation, Oral Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation, and Extemporaneous Speaking

Pattern B: Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Impromptu, and Original Oratory

We will use the 2023-2024 NSDA resolution for Policy Debate, 2023 September-October NSDA resolution for novice andvarsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and 2023 September-October NSDA resolution for Public Forum Debate. Congress and World Schools Debate will be using the materials found on this Tabroom page.
