88th Annual Singletary High School Invitational

2024 — McMinnville, OR/US

The Linfield University Forensics Team and the Department of Theatre and Communication Arts extend an invitation to you and your students to attend the 88th annual Singletary High School Invitational Forensics Tournament to be held February 2-3, 2024. This tournament honors Craig Singletary and his work with forensics and speech communication at Linfield and in the Northwest region. The tournament will offer four preliminary rounds as well as semi-final and final elimination rounds of parliamentary debate, value Lincoln-Douglas debate, public forum debate, Oregon-Style CX, and congressional debate. Competition will be offered in thirteen individual events through three preliminary rounds and finals. The tournament will be using electronic ballots. Please have all judges bring a laptop or tablet to complete their ballots and remarks. As usual, we will offer a generous array of awards for team and individual achievement.

We have made several changes to the tournament and our schedule, so please read carefully. Specifically, to add flexibility for schools and individual competitors who might not be able to compete on both days (and for programs that might not have the resources to do an overnight at an area hotel), we have placed all of Pattern A on Friday and all of Pattern B and Debate on Saturday. Also, most of the events with 10-minute time limits are in Pattern A on Friday to help to ensure that Saturday will run on time. All events at this tournament will follow the rules as laid out in the Oregon School Activities Association Speech Handbook unless otherwise noted in the full tournament invitation.
