You are cordially invited to the Fargo South Speech Invitational on Feb. 20^th, 2021

Here is the breakdown of information to know for the tournament. Please be sure to read each section thoroughly and carefully.

Locations and Times:

• Tournament has one-hour time slots with a maximum of 28 students per hour, schools may only be on site for their competitive hour or immediately preceding competition. Maximum students onsite at any one time is 56 (28 competing, 28 preparing to compete).

Logistics

• PLEASE ENTER SOUTH HIGH VIA DOOR

• Masks are required except when speaking in room with one judge and appropriate social distancing.

• No observers in rounds

• Students must come dressed in appropriate attire.

• Index cards with titles or authors should NOT be handed to judges by competitors.

• School ballots will be given to coach per invitational manager’s determination.

• Final tabulations will be done after completion of tournament and emailed to coaches

Prep Events

• Prep materials will be sent electronically to coaches by 1:00 PM CST of the previous day.

• The same single extemporaneous material will be used for all three rounds.

• Extemporaneous speakers will sign back of question (if printed) and place in a provided envelope.

• No microphones for radio – back-to-back delivery with appropriate social distancing.

• Impromptu quotations will be done in sets. Example: 6 students - 6 sets or 12 students – 12 sets

• Duo partners must maintain appropriate social distancing.

Judges

• Judges will be required to check in at the start of the tournament and before leaving the tournament. 

They are assigned to one room with ballots collected per tournament manager’s instruction. Judges must keep an accurate grid while judging their 3 events and fill out master ballot at the completion of the tournament.

• Judges will clean any surfaces (door handles – desks) per invitational school protocol

Food

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and the CSTAND restart plan, there will be No concessions or shared common areas for students, coaches, or judges. Students are expected to bring their own bottled water as well as food.

Registration

Fees: 5.00 per entry

Judges: 1 judge / 10 entries OR 8.00/uncovered entry. Hired judges are 75.00 per judge.

Coaches can register students for the 2021 Fargo South Invitational on TABROOM at http://fargosouthspeech.tabroom.com.  Registrations are due by Monday, Feb. 15 at 8 PM

Coaches can register students in a maximum of TWO events and can use a maximum of 28 SLOTS. Each school can register a maximum of TWO students in each category.
