Topics

Lincoln-Douglas Debate will use the January/February NSDA resolution: Resolved: States ought to eliminate their nuclear arsenals.

Policy Debate will use the 2019-2020 NSDA resolution: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially reduce Direct Commercial Sales and/or Foreign Military Sales of arms from the United States.

Entry Fees

$70 per LD Entry

$80 per Policy Entry

Judging Requirements

Schools must provide two rounds of qualified judging for every LD entry, and three rounds of qualified judging for every policy entry. Judges should have sufficient experience to adjudicate debates in their division. In novice, this means they have received training on debate and judging norms. In varsity, this means having sufficient experience to judge varsity, national-circuit style debates.

Schools are responsible for providing judges for one round beyond the elimination of their students in each event. Every judge is obligated for the first elimination round.

There will be a limited number of tournament hired judges available. The cost of hiring a judge will be $30 per round. Hired judges are only available on a first-come first-served basis.

Judge Exchange

I have opened up the judge exchange for the tournament. If you would like to offer rounds for hire, you can do so by completing the following steps:

1) Log into Tabroom

2) Click on your username

3) Click "Offer Hired Judging Rounds" in the right hand column

4) Click "Offer" for the Marlborough Spring Championship and enter the number of rounds you wish to offer.

Food Options

On Friday and Saturday the tournament will provide a light breakfast and a lunch. On Sunday we will provide a light breakfast option. We will not be providing disposable bottles of water, so please bring a reusable bottle and use the bottle-fillers and water fountains on campus. The cost of your meals is included in the entry fee.

Internet Access

Please use the "Guest" network, and log in using the password "guestmustangs".

Student Supervision

Every student attending the tournament should have an adult on campus throughout the tournament who is responsible for their wellbeing and conduct. Our strong preference is that individual should be an employee of a degree granting institution which the student attends. Students who are not accompanied by an adult who is legally responsible for their wellbeing and conduct will be asked to leave the tournament.
