Event Description:

Declamation is open to 9th and 10th grade students only. NCFL rules will be followed.

 

Description:

Students will select and deliver a memorized performance of a pre-written speech. Selections must come from speeches delivered previously by an outside speaker, and must be publicly available online. Selections are not the original work of the student but rather, are the student's interpretation of another's speech. Typical selections may include commencement addresses, motivational speeches, informational speeches, eulogies, historical addresses, etc.

Students must include an introduction of their own composition identifying the original author and title of the selection.

Speeches must be delivered from memory without the use of a manuscript. Movement is allowed during the speech.

 

Time Limit: 10 minutes (30 second grace period is allowed)
