Event Description:

Extemporaneous Speaking: Students will give 5-minute speeches on topics that will be made available before the tournament. Students are encouraged to use sources to advance their argument. Students will draw three of the pre-announced topics and have 30 minutes to prepare a speech on one of their choice. Students may use the internet during their prep time. Students may use their notepad when they deliver their speech. Coaches can add questions to this doc and share with students in advance of the tournament.

Time limit: 5 minutes with a 30 second grace period. Students who speak beyond the time limit plus the grace period may not be ranked 1st. Judges should offer to provide visual time signals.
