Coretta Scott King was a fierce activist, author, and leader in the Civil Rights Movement. Before terms like “intersectionality” were coined, Coretta approached activism from every corner by including women’s rights, LGBTQ+ equality, poverty, and international struggles in her fight. In fact, Martin Luther King Jr. Day would not be a National holiday without the passionate and tireless campaigning of Coretta Scott King. In her honor, join this panel of some of the most winningest womxn competitors and coaches in the history of forensics as they discuss their personal experiences in the activity, improvements that need to be made, and visions of a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable Speech & Debate. At the end of the conversation, questions will be taken from the audience and participants will be prompted to engage in the creation of a poetic community statement. Join us for dialogue and collective imagining!
