Hurricane Invitational Debate Tournament

Thanks so much for your interest in the Hurricane Invitational Debate Tournament, to be held Friday and Saturday January 8 & 9! This tournament is open to all high schools.  We will provide the standard 4 debate events (Congress, PF,LD, CX) along with Individual Events (HI, DI, DUO, OO, IMP, Mixed Extemp, SPAR). Please be aware that we will be running IE and Debate events on both days. This schedule allows competitors to compete in a Debate event AND double enter in IEs (except for those doing Extemp). Triple IE entry will NOT be allowed.

We will be using January Extemp topics!

Thank you for your interest in this tournament.  Registration is now open and will close on the Wednesday before the tournament.  Please finalize drops and adds by Thursday Jan. 7 at 3:30 pm.

There are a LOT of fast food places near the HHS campus, so we won't be selling concessions. 2 meals and a continental breakfast and snacks will be available for coaches and judges.  We have plenty of vending machines.

Fees are $15 per school per day, and $3 per student entry ($7 for DUOs and CX/PF teams).  BRING JUDGES!!!!

We will have sweeps trophies for the top 3 schools, medals for the top 3 finishers in each event, and an award for Best Chair in Congress.

3:00 pm - REGISTRATION (the tournament will not start untill all school coaches have checked in, in the tab room)

3:45-5:45 pm - CONGRESS RD 1 (2-hour session; the 2-day docket is below; there are only 9/older bills so far, so if we don't find more from utahdebate@googlegroups.org, tell your Cong-kids to debate each bill in depth!)
