2019 MPS Conference Tournament

When: Saturday, February 16, 2019

Where:  Audubon High School – 3300 S 39th St.  Milwaukee, WI 53215

Who:  All Schools within the Milwaukee Public School District

Registration:  Opens January 15, 2019

Rules:  ​WFCA rules will be followed for all categories including impromptu.  In addition to WFCA categories, the NCFL category of Oratorical Declamation will be offered and governed by NCFL rule (available at www.ncfl.org).  Triple entries are allowed.  (Please email me which of your students are Triple Entered so we can award the Triple Threat Award that evening.)

-          Three preliminary rounds will occur for any category that has only 1 room of competition.  Any event that has more than 1 section of competition will have a power round after round 3.

-          Registrations must be entered into Tabroom by Wednesday, February 13.  (if you have questions or concerns about using Tabroom, please contact me for assistance)

-          Confirmations will be sent electronically by Thursday, February 14 – Noon.

Day of Tournament registration will occur from 7:30 - 8:15 am on that Saturday Tournament morning​.  Round 1 begins at 8:45 am, with Extemp and Radio draw beginning promptly at 8:15 am. Power rounds will begin at 12:45 pm with awards to follow immediately.  

Judges: ​ You must provide one well-trained judge for each 5 entries or fraction thereof.  ALL judges are required to remain until the power rounds are underway.  Please be certain your judges understand and use the WFCA rules as their judging criteria.  ​In an effort to provide valuable feedback to students, judges will write an abbreviated critique form in all power rounds, in addition to providing ranks. 

Deadline for Registration is noon, Wednesday, February 13​:  ​After that your judge obligations WILL NOT be reduced, regardless of your actual entries.  Please continue to report changes as needed via email until Wednesday at noon. I will try to make accommodations for changes/additions as best as I can.

Awards:  ​Individual trophies for the top three in each event, with medals to remaining finalists. Team awards to the schools that earn the greatest number of sweepstakes points (best 25 entries counted toward the team awards).  We’ll have three categories – Large, Medium and Small

Food:  ​Snack and lunch items will be available for sale throughout the day in the cafeteria. We thank you for supporting our program and keeping the tournament running on time by purchasing food on site.

REGISTRATION OPENS: On January 15th on Tabroom.  

YOU MUST REGISTER BY: Noon, on Wednesday, February 13th on Tabroom.  

ON TOURNAMENT DAY: You must confirm your entry by telephone before 7:40 am.  

 

Schedules will be balanced and run on Tournament day only after all confirmations are received – be prompt and accurate when you call in!  If you fail to call in accurately, your student(s) will be left off the schedule for round one!
